An island resort on Ifuru
Ifuru Island opened on 23 September 2023 as an independently owned resort in Raa Atoll, about 178 km from Velana International Airport. Every one of the 147 suites and villas faces west along a 1.2 km sunset beach, and the resort operates on a premium all-inclusive concept that runs around the clock. The island holds the only private resort airport in the Maldives, so guests arrive directly after a roughly 30–32-minute domestic flight — no boat transfer needed on arrival. The property also claims the first permanent skydiving dropzone in the Maldives, alongside five dining venues, three bars, Xanadu Spa, and a beachfront infinity pool.
The honest verdict
A large, activity-heavy all-inclusive resort where the all-in pricing covers food, drinks, and most activities around the clock — but the scale means it's not an intimate escape.
Best for
- Families wanting structured kids' programmes
- Couples chasing long sunset beach evenings
- Adventurous travellers drawn to skydiving or diving
- Groups or multi-generational bookings
Maybe not ideal for
- Travellers seeking a small, quiet boutique stay
- Those who prefer à la carte-only dining without a premium all-inclusive structure
What a stay costs
Indicative room-only estimate from the lowest nightly rate — excludes airport transfers, taxes and seasonal price changes. Many Maldives properties also require a minimum stay. Check live rates for your dates.
A beach that faces west all day
All 147 suites and villas sit along a 1.2 km beach angled directly at the setting sun. There is no east-facing accommodation here — every balcony and terrace gets the same light at the end of the day.
The island's own runway
Ifuru Island has its own private airport, roughly 0.35 km from the resort. Guests fly in from Velana International on a 30–32-minute domestic flight and step off a plane directly onto the island — a setup no other Maldivian resort replicates.
Five restaurants, three bars, no closing time
The Waterfront does à la carte New World cuisine, Kai runs Japanese teppanyaki at a live-chef table, Palm Grill is a steakhouse with locally caught fish, and Social House covers global plates. Ifuru Eats handles late-night takeaway from 10:30 pm to 7:30 am.
Bars built around the sunset
Hubba Hubba is the cocktail and DJ bar by the pool. Poolside Pizza adds metre-long pizzas to the mix. The Beach Club takes a more relaxed approach at the water's edge, positioned for the evening light.
Xanadu Spa at the island's north end
The spa sits at the quieter northern end of the island and runs on a six-pillars-of-wellness framework. The Star Fitness gym operates 24 hours, and there is an indoor cinema on the property.
The Maldives' first skydiving dropzone
Ifuru Island runs the country's first permanent skydiving dropzone. For guests who want the water, the resort arranges scuba diving with instructors, house reef snorkelling, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and Seabob experiences.
